Rancho Oso

Winter was here and we had a week off. We knew we wanted to take a horse trip, but where?
We had several options, one of which was to do a hop-scotch of campgrounds along the coast. After doing a little research, my brother, a fellow horseman, advised me of Rancho Oso.
We decided that staying in one place was a more relaxing way to go. He assured me that we would not get bored at Rancho Oso for a week and there were lots of trails to keep us busy.
With many miles of trails, we had a week of riding with no "do-overs". The trails varied from mellow along the creek bed, to quite treacherous along cliff routes with spectacular views. Some of the trails were not for the faint of heart! Your horse should be well versed in water crossings and be sure footed for narrow single tracks.
Check out the horse camping details and prices.
Accommodations are varied. You can take your own RV, tent or rent a western village cabin or a covered wagon. It's a great spot for group trips. The hosts are very knowledgeable horse people and the facilities are beautiful and safe.
Lots of wildlife to observe, including the protected wild turkey and the biggest pigs you've ever seen!
Post-ride entertainment includes a jacuzzi and pool, large fire pits, an adult lodge with TV, pool table and wireless Internet. The Chumash Casino is a short 20 minute drive up the road if you decide to get a wild hair and do some gambling or see a show at night.
