Are you ready Steve, uh huh. . Andy? Yeah. . Mick. . .alright. . .LETS GOOOOOO
Uurrhhhhkkkk. . . .. .put on the breaks. . . SHEL. . .watch the high line!
Great stuff to learn how to do, but do correctly, on camping trips.
Jason, has that evil look in his eye. "Ok y'all, today we're gonna get WESTERN"!Hmmmm. . .we've seen that look in his eye before.
Du dum du du du. . .du du du du du. . .(are ya with me? You have to click the link to that darn Sweet song that's ringin' in my head) Under picture one. . go back and listen!
Carol always gets that deer in the headlights look when she hears me say, quietly to myself. .."Oh Lord". . .
We all know what's comin'All he can say is "make sure you don't stop. . .keep "encouraging" them". Uh, ok. .as my horse slides back onto a boulder that drops over a cliff. My encouragement came from me looking UPhill, squeezing firmly, holding reins up towards the ears. . .clicking gently. . .
Dear Roanie just pulls it out. Hopping up the hill. . .HOLD ON!
Yeah Carol, we lived another day! And look! Your sweater coordinates with the turning aspens. Are we in heaven?
Who picked this trail? Actually, Jason knows this land like his own backyard. Oh yeah, it is his own back yard. He just looks at the sun, scans the terrain and points in the general direction. He just keeps asking us How western we want to get. He's not worried about what the horses are capable of, they can do it. It's just a matter of what WE can handle.
Now we're touring through a Carlos Castanedas novel.
This off roading is amazing. I don't know how else in the world you would get to experience these kinds of scenery's. And so many, so varied, so effortlessly.

Can you believe this dog makes his way with us, 20 miles! Up and down mountains, running circles around us, making sure we're all together. . checking on our safety.
Cool, clean, water. . .
Bob, you look relieved
Scott makes it to a peaceful valley. I think he's in shock, relieved and pleasantly in awe of his experience.
Oh yeah, I recognize that look. These Utah and Arizona valleys are stunning. And I have to admit, I never really knew where we were. I just followed along. .smiled and nodded.
Jason, with boundless energy, takes this opportunity to practice his stunt mount. Watch this. . notice his hands twisted position on the horn? Inside leg kicks out. .
Up and AROUND the horn. . this looks like the potential trouble spot, yes?
And a big du dum!!! but wait.. what's that look on his face? Joy, content, or pain? We'll never know!
Onward, after lunch. This valley takes us past the Heaton grandma ranch, the place where all the grand kids would spend summer days. Not a bad spot to grow up, aye?

Yeah, Mel is a treasure. I could sit and listen to him tell story and adventure all night long. If only we could get him to talk more! It's a good thing he's passin the knowledge down the generational ladder. The old west is fading and it would be a shame to have it dissapear altogether.
