Silverado Play Days Begin

Silverado's Gymkhana "PLAY DAYS" has begun.

The crowds assembled to discuss the rules and events of the day to come

Ann, our tireless barn manager has revived the historic Silverado Play Days. The events are scheduled to continue throughout the summer, held once a month on Sundays at Carbondale Ranch in Silverado. Please check back for dates.

Riders relax and gather their focus for events of the day

Our volunteer "C.C." is the "M.C." of the event. He also is our "Monte Hall" for Friday nights Cattle Sorting events. Check out the Silverado Cattle Club for details.

Here is a photo catalogue of the days moments

setting up the course

Our wonderful volunteer arena God, gentleman, cattle herder, horse trainer and roper extraordinaire! Thanks for the chair, Lewis.

The cows stand alert to see if they're going to be chased around today or not. Rest assured, dear bovines. . you're free today!

Cody isn't so sure he wants to give the cows the day off.

First up, first event, the keyhole. Riders run in as fast as possible. Screech to a stop, spin and run out. Nice control Susie!

An excited Beth waits for her turn. She's a versed roper who has chosen to "Play" today. That's the beauty of these days. . . it's a day where you can put your serious training aside and just have some fun.

Although Hannah here takes gymkhana very serious and it showed! She ripped on that big horse of hers.

Here she is with her trainer (in red), J.J. Contact Carbondale if you're interested in doing some barrel training. Rave reviews on her work!

Good guys show up to support their cowgirls! Smile, Big D!

Love that mane braid!

pole bending

This horse is a giant 17-plus hands of rushing horseness. . .Sid did a great job on Rella on these tight maneuvers.

Our wild card.

Another happy winner. More ribbons for above your fireplace, Miska! Nice job!

Love or exhaustion? I say both!

Happy endings!

  2. Yes! The first one was only open to Carbondale boarders, just to get the kinks out. But the next will be open to all. I'll post the dates as soon as there is a firm commitment.
